I was right. My most wonderful wife did fly us to NY for the first 2 games of the Red Sox v. yanks matchup as a combo birthday/anniversary present. She is a yanks fan, but she knows how much this team means to me. She also had 3 of my best friends in the world meet us there. My buddy Martin, another yanks fan, sprung for us to stay the 2 days at the Waldorf! The best part about staying at the Waldorf will become obvious at the end of this rant. Let's just say I got to meet someone pretty cool there. I had the BEST time I have had in a long time, and it was great to see the Derek and the Sox rock in game 1. The yanks fans were absolutely classy for both games and didn't even mind when I got vocal...they just realized I was supporting my team. I think as long as you aren't talking smack they tolerate the Sox fans that are there, and there were quite a few of us...enough to get a pretty nice "Let's Go RED SOX" going on Friday night, although that same chant was a little weaker late in the game on Saturday!
I have met johnny from under a fence where fans gets autographs from 4 times. The last time i went, johnny had his twins madelyn and jackson with him. as he was bending down to sign autographs, so was his little girl. his kids are the cutest kids that i have ever seen! right before he got in his car, he picked up and hugged his son. there were "oohs" from everyone there! Anyone who goes to fenway and goes to get autographs, just know that johnny is really really nice and signs stuff for fans almost every time you see him. He is a very nice person. Thanks for your website! -angel90688-
06/29/02 I have met Johnny! I first arrived at the mall at 6:15 ish with my parents, I went to the center court where Johnny and Rey were, but they weren't there yet! I went near the enterance where I though his limo would be and it wasnt there...I turn around and BAM, there's Johnny walkin over to the place to sign! Every one clapped and cheered when he came out! I had my camera with me and I was less than 10 ft away from him tryin to sneek pics because the ppl workin there wouldnt let us snap a pic with the flash on! So I went on the upper level and I had the most perfect shot, I took quite a few. My mom was hungry so we went to a restraunt. I ate soooo fast so I could get back over there to see him.
After dinner we went back to watch him, this time on the lower level right next to him! My mom asked if I wanted to go get his autograph and I was like "YES!" We bought a photo for him to sign and the ticket to go in line ($40.50 total). There was no line I walked rite up to him and I handed him the photo and he said "Hi, how are you doing?" I replied with "Fine how about you?" he said "I'm good, how was your day?" I said "its pretty good!" (I didnt want to ask him about his day since they had just lost against the braves and he didn't have any hits) my mom was like "Why dont you shake his hand" so I did!! He had the lightest, gentlest hand shake ever!! It was like an old lady shake! I didnt know if I should have sqeezed or not.
After that awesome moment we just hung out watching all these hoochie girls come up to him! I said to my mom " I wonder how many of these girls know his name, his position, his number, his batting avg. and even know the team he's on?" my mom laughed and I was like "I know all of that!" all those chicks were there for his looks, I HATE THAT! Not to say that he's not good lookin' (because he's gorgeous.) But I felt bad for Rey (sanchez) no one was goin over to him! Oh well I think he liked not signing a million things!
Later on about 7:35 Johnny gets up! Im like ahh, so we kinda followed way behind him, and he went into the place that put the signing on, I didnt wanna be rude, so I stayed away. He came out of the store about 5 mins later and I filmed a little bit of him walkin' in front of me on my digital camera! Hes kind of far away on there though! Oh well. Its too big I cant fit it on here :(. He sat back down to sign some more stuff and I took some more pictures! 8 'o clock was when it was supposed to end but they came late so they were there a little bit later too. No one was coming at this time so he posed with the guys that worked there.
Then i knew were he was gonna leave. So I waited. He started to walk to the exit, so I went in front of him (like 30 ft ahead). My mom's like "he's right behind you". I though he was still a ways away I open the exit door and WHOA he was right there. I held the door for him and he said "thank you" obviously I replied with "Your welcome" I knew this was my last chance to ask for a picture with him so I did! "Excuse me, may I please take a picture with you?" were my exact words (you cant get any more polite than that!). The guy that was with him was like "NO, too many people want to take pictures with him"...(except no one was around hmmmm..) i put on a mad face, and my mom said out loud for Johnny and the guy to hear..."Don't cry cassie, I know you wanted to take a picture with him for your 16th birthday" (6/27 was my birthday) and Johnny walked by, stopped, he looked straight at me with a sympathetic expression and then he shrugged his shoulders and said "I'm sorry" with the cutest little smirk and it looked like he was ready to take a pic with me because he was starin at me for a while and then he turned and got into his car and left.
I dont even care that I didnt get to take a picture with him, I got to talk to him, he felt bad for me, and i shook his hand!!! He was so nice about everything! I will never forget this nite! I cant wait to see him when I go to a game next week...I wonder if he'll remember....I doubt it haha. ~Cassie http://www.geocities.com/jdamonfan
I met Johnny one night. It was after one of last Red Sox home games (9/27). We happened to be at Boston Beer Works after the game and he came walking out. I absolutely flipped!!!! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would I ever get to meet him in person and I have to say he is one of the nicest guys in the world. Even though I was somewhat of a lunatic from being so star-struck, he was really cool. Not only did he sign my Red Sox calendar, but he signed my jersey also . I also was priveledged enough to get my pic taken with him.... Although I thought I might have a heart attack from it!LOL!!! I am a HUGE Johnny Damon fan (as well as the Red Sox) and am sooooooo happy to have him playing here at Fenway....I hope he is here to stay.

Johnny Sighting
My friend Matt and I took the trip to St. Petersburg to catch the Red Sox for the 2003 Opening series vs
the Devil Rays. We had the honor of running into Johnny around the neighborhood where we were staying
and he took a moment to chat with us and take some pictures! I was so happy for Matt cause he is his
biggest fan and #42 in the fan club! It totally made the vacation unforgettable! Thanks Johnny! ~Paul W.
I read in the newspaper that Johnny was going to be at Filene's Chestnut Hill Mall to read to kids. So me and my cousins decided to go see him =) We woke up early and got there. The mall wasn't even open and a couple of ppl was in line. We waited for like 10 or 20 mins and ppl were cheering. We looked to our right and there he was! He was walking out from his car and entering the building. So we got in and the kids were sitting on the floor getting ready to hear him read. They had some free food & drinks so we grabbed some. Finally Johnny came out and ppl cheered. Me and my older cousin waited in line for him to finish and sign our stuff. He read and read, and I took some pictures. Then all the kids got together and took a group pic with Johnny. Then it was autograph time ... I think me and my cuzin was 4th in line. It was our turn, he said Hi, how ya doing ... signed our stuff and took pics with us! Hee, he seems so humble and nice! It was a good day. After that, we decided to look for his car. Hee ... and I think we found it, nice! Oh, also that day, we were heading to the ball game too! =) Yes, that's my Johnny Damon encounter, and I hope there's more to come! ~Elly - Randolph, Ma

How I Met Johnny
It was the night they clinched the wild card and I was lucky enough to be there. I got there right when the gates opened and I went stright to the dugout. I saw my teacher Paul Williams and I yelled his name. He told me to come over and he brought Johnny over. It was a dream come true I was so happy. I was at the game the night before and he signed my hat. He remembered that! When I met him it was my birthday and we shook hands he said Happy Birthday and nice to meet you. I said thank you and very nice to meet you too. Paul took our picture for me. That was the best day of my life and Johnny was so sweet. To top it all off they clinched the Wild Card!! What a night that was!!

Sorry if this is boring for anyone, but I just had to share my story. By the way, Johnny Damon is a VERY COOL GUY!!!!! That BEAUTIFUL one on the right is my yankee wife...that's right, I still won't capitalize 'yankee' even when it is an adjective describing my wife...thank God her sunglasses are covering up her NY hat emblem!!! Is she the coolest, or what? I think you all can figure out who that good lookin' one in the middle is...and if I would have smiled any harder, my face would have exploded!
Texas Encounter!
My brother and I grew up in New Hampshire and became big BoSox fans, but moved to the South where we now live. Ricky and I make it a tradition to see the Sox series when they play the Rangers in Arlington every year. When they came into town, we came up with the idea of getting wigs for the chance of meeting JD and taking a pic with him. Lucky for us, there was a three hour rain delay. We saw him in the dug out asked him to come out and take a pic with a couple of his disciples. He was very cool and I have a lot of respect for his passion for the game and life.

Michelle Meets Johnny - November 1, 2004
I met Johnny at Macy's in Downtown Crossing on Monday, Nov. 1st. The night before I was reading the Boston Globe and saw a big ad that said "Meet Johnny Damon" and I knew I had to go. I was already disappointed that I didn't see him in the parade so I decided to get up at 6:30 am and go into Boston. I waited in line until 10am and met some really nice people. Unfortunately, he wasn't signing autographs but he was taking pictures with fans (Macy's provided free polaroids). Girls were leaving Macy's, still shaking from meeting him and I really didn't think that would happen to me. When it was my turn, I went up and he gave me a huge hug. We took our picture together and I told him he was amazing. He just laughed and thanked me. I was definitely shaking when I left! He seriously is the sweetest guy ever and seemed to enjoy every moment, even though I'm sure his face hurt from smiling for pictures with 300 fans. Hopefully next time I meet him I can get him to autograph the picture of us!
I Saw Johnny!
My name is Teodora and I live in Cambridge MA. I was in a furniture store with my mom and sister and when I walked in I saw Johnny with his fiance. He was talking to the sales assistant asn trying out chairs. I didn't get an autograph and I didn't say anything becuase I was in a total state of shock. I didn't want to bother him either because he looked busy. When we walked out of the store I just screamed and started shaking!!!!!!!!!!
Nick talks to Johnny 8/2007
It was August 13th at Yankee Stadium and the Yanks were playing a game at 7:05. And i'm the kind of young fan who likes to get to the stadium WAY before the gates open to watch the players go in. And I had a sign that said "JOHNNY DAMON'S BIGGEST FAN!" Well when Johnny pulled up in his big black Escalade, I could see him through the passenger side window and it looked like he didn't even see the sign. But right before he pulled into the parking lot, he rolled down the passenger window, looked at me and said "Hey, whatsup Bro?" I just thought that was so cool, that he did that. For all the players I've seen go in the stadium, he was the only one who ever acknowleged a fan. It was so unexpected, so all I said back was, HEY!!! If I really thought about that might happen I would've asked him to sign my ball. I got the ball on 2007 Opening Day at Yankee Stadium. I then had a sign that said "Johnny is Da-Mon" And he looked at it, smiled, then threw the ball to me. I will never foget those things. In the picture, I am the kid in the pinstripe jersey, and that was right after he talked to me, and I smiled to my dad who took the picture. He took the picture cause we were waiting for Johnny to come in, because he is my favorite player ever. The girl with the brunette hair to my left is my cousin. That was her first ever Yankee game, and she thought it was awesome that he talked to me, So right after that we went and bought her a Johnny Damon hat.
